Church Renovation #9 – Things to consider…

I hope that each of you has felt included and informed in this process of describing and explaining our plans for renovation of our parish church. It is important and vital that we have your support. I have appreciated the personal and written responses that some of you have shared with me.

We are anxious to begin the process. We should have selected a contractor by May 25th. At that time, we will know more clearly the costs involved for our important plans. It will be expensive. The projected costs will be shared with you as soon as they are available. Our fundraising will then begin. Some of you have already given very generously. We have received two major gifts.

Work will begin as soon as possible. Remember that we hope to be able to use our church throughout the renovation. I like the idea of parishioners watching the weekly progress. There will be times of inconvenience, but you will be informed and notified weekly. There may be times that we would use Holy Family Hall for weekend masses.

Most importantly, we will lose the daily quiet and peacefulness that we are used to in our parish church. Many of you visit the church during the day for quiet prayer in the presence of the Eucharist in the tabernacle. This loss will be unfortunate, but inevitable. We need your patience and support in accepting these realities.

Daily mass may need to be moved to the rectory basement. Thursday rosary may also need to be moved. Things will occur that we will not have been anticipated. But the project will have a beginning, a middle and an end. The end will be worth the inconveniencies of the middle.

The promised parish hall (town hall) meeting will be on Sunday, June 17, 2019 at 12:30pm in the church. Please come to see the architect’s renderings, see financial plans and ask important questions.

I am very grateful for your support of this important and necessary renovation project. Let’s see it to its completion.
